Arranging a Cross-Border Rotaract Meeting: A Step Towards Greater Collaboration

On 14th August 2020, I had the privilege of hosting a virtual meeting with Rotaractors from Rotaract District 3292 (Nepal & Bhutan) as part of my responsibilities as the District International Service Director (2020-21) for Rotaract District Organization RID 3281. This meeting, held via Google Meet, marked another significant step in fostering international collaboration and enhancing the bonds between Rotaract communities across borders.

  1. Updates on Upcoming Events:

    • Participants shared updates on their respective district and club-level upcoming events.
    • Discussions emphasized aligning these events with the goals of Rotary Opens Opportunities and Service Above Self.
  2. Planning for the Next Event:

    • A brainstorming session was held to identify collaborative projects that resonate with both districts’ visions.
    • Proposed event ideas ranged from skill development workshops to cultural exchange initiatives.
  3. Sharing New Project Proposals:

    • Both districts presented innovative social action project concepts.
    • Emphasis was placed on sustainable development goals (SDGs) such as education, health, and environment.
    • Some notable project ideas included joint campaigns against gender-based violence and virtual skill-building sessions for young leaders.

Experience and Reflections

Working with Rotaractors from Nepal and Bhutan was an enriching and inspiring experience. It showcased the shared dedication of Rotaractors across nations to contribute meaningfully to society. The collaboration also:

  • Strengthened international ties within the Rotaract community.
  • Encouraged the exchange of innovative ideas and best practices.
  • Highlighted the potential for collective action to address global challenges.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the participants for their active engagement and enthusiasm. This meeting reaffirmed my belief in the power of international cooperation to bring about impactful changes in communities.
