A Milestone in Leadership and Service
It is with immense gratitude and pride that I, as President of Rotaract Club of Rajdhani Dhaka for Rotary Year 2019-2020, share the news of our club receiving the Rotary International Presidential Citation Award. This prestigious recognition is one of the highest honors awarded by Rotary International to clubs that excel in meeting their strategic goals, strengthening Rotary’s values, and making a measurable impact in their communities.
This award signifies not only my journey as a leader but also the combined dedication, teamwork, and passion of every club member who contributed tirelessly toward achieving this milestone.
What is the Rotary International Presidential Citation Award?
The Rotary Citation is an acknowledgment of outstanding performance by Rotary, Rotaract, or Interact clubs that successfully meet key goals set by Rotary International. These goals are aligned with Rotary’s core mission to:
- Increase Membership: Enhance the club’s reach and engage diverse members.
- Develop Sustainable Service Projects: Create projects with a long-term impact on communities.
- Support The Rotary Foundation: Contribute to Rotary’s charitable arm, which funds impactful global initiatives.
- Enhance Community Awareness: Build Rotary’s reputation through advocacy and impactful community service.
Earning this award means that our club not only met these goals but also went beyond expectations to create a legacy of positive change.
Steps Taken to Achieve the Citation
1. Strengthening Club Membership
Under my leadership, we actively worked to expand our club membership by:
- Welcoming new, enthusiastic members who brought fresh perspectives and energy.
- Engaging existing members by providing them with leadership roles, training, and opportunities to grow personally and professionally.
- Fostering inclusivity to ensure everyone felt valued and motivated to contribute.
2. Implementing Sustainable Service Projects
One of the defining aspects of our journey was the initiation and execution of sustainable community service projects. These included:
- Organizing health awareness campaigns to educate the community.
- Running education programs for underprivileged children.
- Participating in environmental conservation efforts, including tree plantations and clean-up drives.
Each project was designed with long-term benefits in mind, ensuring a lasting impact on the community.
3. Contributing to The Rotary Foundation
To support Rotary International’s global initiatives, we encouraged contributions to The Rotary Foundation. These funds were directed toward impactful causes such as:
- Eradicating polio globally.
- Providing clean drinking water in underserved areas.
- Supporting global peacebuilding and conflict resolution initiatives.
4. Building Awareness of Rotary in the Community
Promoting Rotary’s mission was a key priority, and we achieved this by:
- Actively engaging with local stakeholders, including government bodies, educational institutions, and other community organizations.
- Leveraging social media platforms to share our projects, inspire participation, and celebrate milestones.
- Organizing public events and campaigns to showcase Rotary’s values and initiatives.
