Introduction: Addressing the COVID-19 Challenge
The Public Awareness & Mask Distribution Campaign held on November 27, 2020, in Narayanganj District was a crucial initiative aimed at mitigating the spread of COVID-19. As the pandemic continued to impact lives globally, ensuring that people had access to protective measures such as masks, hygiene knowledge, and public awareness became an urgent necessity.
This initiative was driven by a commitment to community health and safety, emphasizing the importance of preventive measures like wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and practicing proper hygiene. As a dedicated Rotaractor, I actively contributed to the planning and execution of this program, ensuring that it effectively reached the most vulnerable communities.
Project Objectives & Key Focus Areas
The primary objectives of the Public Awareness & Mask Distribution Campaign were:
✔ To raise awareness about COVID-19 prevention and safety measures.
✔ To distribute protective masks to underprivileged and at-risk individuals who lacked access to them.
✔ To educate the community on the significance of wearing masks properly and following hygiene protocols.
✔ To engage local stakeholders in collective efforts to combat the spread of the virus.
✔ To encourage behavioral change and long-term adherence to health guidelines.
The initiative targeted public spaces such as markets, transport hubs, and densely populated areas, where people were at higher risk due to frequent social interactions.
My Role & Contributions

- Used posters, leaflets, and on-the-spot demonstrations to explain proper mask usage, social distancing, and hand hygiene.
- Conducted interactive sessions with small groups to address common myths and misinformation about COVID-19.
3. Mask Distribution & Community Engagement
- Led teams in distributing hundreds of masks across Narayanganj District, prioritizing low-income individuals, daily wage workers, and street vendors who were at higher risk.
- Encouraged market vendors, rickshaw pullers, and pedestrians to adopt proper hygiene practices while continuing their daily activities.
- Collaborated with local law enforcement and medical professionals to reinforce the importance of public safety measures.
4. Ensuring Sustainability & Follow-Up
