"Festi-Vista" – A Multi-Country Joint Club Cultural Exchange Program

📅 Date: 20 December 2020

Cultural diversity is one of the most beautiful aspects of human civilization, and fostering cross-cultural understanding plays a crucial role in global harmony. On 20 January 2020, I had the privilege of organizing and participating in "Festi-Vista," a unique multi-country cultural exchange program. This event brought together Rotaract Clubs from seven different countries, creating a dynamic platform to showcase, share, and celebrate diverse cultures, traditions, and festivals.

Vision and Concept

The idea behind "Festi-Vista" was to bridge cultural gaps and strengthen international friendships through interactive learning. The program aimed to:
Promote cross-cultural awareness among young leaders.
Foster global networking and collaboration among Rotaract Clubs.
Enhance knowledge about various traditions, customs, and celebrations worldwide.
Encourage inclusivity and appreciation of cultural diversity.

Given the diverse participation, the event was structured to highlight the uniqueness of each country’s culture, traditional attire, food, and festivities, allowing attendees to immerse themselves in a global experience without traveling.

Collaborating Clubs and Countries

The event brought together seven Rotaract Clubs from different regions:
🌍 Rotaract Club of Rajdhani Dhaka, Bangladesh
🌍 Rotaract Club of RCDPU, India
🌍 Rotaract Plaza de la República, México
🌍 Rotaract Club Yopal, Colombia
🌍 Rotaract E-Club Hispanoamérica, Puerto Rico
🌍 Rotaract Club Guzelyali, Türkiye
🌍 Rotaract Club of Patan West, Nepal

This collaboration underscored the power of Rotaract as a global movement, connecting young professionals and leaders worldwide.

Program Highlights and My Contributions

1️⃣ Opening Ceremony & Introductions

The event began with an opening speech, where I welcomed all participating clubs, set the tone for the program, and emphasized the importance of cultural exchange in building a peaceful and interconnected world. As one of the key organizers, I ensured smooth coordination and communication among international teams leading up to the event.

2️⃣ Country Presentations – Showcasing Diversity

Each club was given time to present their country's culture, festivals, and traditions. This segment was an immersive experience, as we explored:
🎭 Traditional Attire – Participants dressed in their national or festive clothing, adding vibrancy to the event.
🍽 Famous Foods – Popular dishes from each country were showcased, including Bangladesh’s biryani, Mexico’s tacos, Colombia’s arepas, and Nepal’s momo.
🎉 Cultural Events & Festivals – Major festivals such as Holi (India/Nepal), Pohela Boishakh (Bangladesh), Day of the Dead (Mexico), and Carnival (Colombia) were presented through storytelling and visuals.

My Role: I represented Bangladesh, highlighting its rich cultural heritage, traditions, and major festivals like Pohela Boishakh, Victory Day, and Eid celebrations. I prepared an engaging presentation featuring historical insights, multimedia clips, and personal experiences, making the session informative and engaging.

3️⃣ Interactive Cultural Trivia and Q&A Session

To make the event more engaging, we conducted a cultural trivia quiz, where participants tested their knowledge about different countries’ customs and traditions. The Q&A session allowed for deeper discussions on cultural similarities and differences, further strengthening global connections.

My Role: I designed part of the trivia quiz, incorporating fun yet educational questions about different cultures. This interactive format kept the audience engaged and encouraged learning in an enjoyable way.

4️⃣ Music, Dance, and Cultural Performances

Music and dance are universal languages that connect people beyond borders. During this session, some participants performed traditional dances, sang regional songs, and played musical instruments unique to their cultures.

💃 Highlights:

  • A Colombian folk dance was performed, showcasing vibrant Latin American rhythms.
  • A Turkish musical piece introduced us to the mesmerizing melodies of Türkiye.
  • We played a Bangladeshi patriotic song, reinforcing our national pride.

My Role: I introduced Bengali folk music to the audience and explained its significance in Bangladesh’s cultural identity.
