An Initiative to Bridge Industry & Aspiring Professionals
On January 16, 2021, I successfully organized a highly insightful seminar on "Career Opportunities in Hotel & Resort Management", under the banner of International Skills Development Center (ISDC). The event was conducted virtually, enabling a diverse audience, including students, job seekers, and young professionals, to participate from different locations.
Objective & Purpose
The global hospitality industry is rapidly expanding, offering numerous career paths in hotel and resort management. However, many aspiring professionals lack clarity on career prospects, required skill sets, and industry expectations. The primary goal of this seminar was to:
- Provide in-depth insights into career opportunities in hotel and resort management.
- Educate participants on industry trends, skill requirements, and global opportunities in the hospitality sector.
- Offer firsthand industry knowledge through guest speakers with extensive professional experience.
- Establish direct communication between students and industry professionals for guidance and mentorship.

Mr. Shaikh Sayeed Hossain – General Manager at Hotel Washington
- With extensive experience in managing hotel operations, Mr. Hossain shared valuable insights on hospitality management, customer service excellence, and operational strategies within the hotel industry.
- He provided practical tips on career growth, discussing the importance of networking, professional certifications, and gaining hands-on experience.
Mr. Jaiganesh Pillai Arumugam Pillai – Program Coordinator, School of Hotel Management, IHM College, Malaysia
- Mr. Pillai highlighted the importance of formal education in hotel and resort management and how institutions like IHM College prepare students for global careers.
- He emphasized the skills needed for international employment, including cultural adaptability, language proficiency, and leadership qualities.

My Role & Contributions
As the lead organizer, I was responsible for:

✅ Coordinating with international and local speakers to ensure their participation and smooth session execution.
✅ Managing digital promotions to reach a wider audience and maximize engagement.
✅ Hosting & moderating the event to ensure smooth transitions between speakers and interactive discussions.
✅ Facilitating post-event engagement by sharing the recorded session link for continued learning.

Exploring the Growing Field of Event Planning & Management
Following the success of the previous seminar, I took the initiative to organize another career-focused session on January 22, 2021, titled "Career Opportunities in Event Management." This seminar, also organized under International Skills Development Center (ISDC), was conducted online to maximize accessibility and participation.
Why Event Management?
The event management industry has grown exponentially, offering diverse career opportunities in corporate events, entertainment, weddings, festivals, and conferences. However, many aspiring professionals struggle to understand the skills required, job roles, and growth opportunities in this field. This seminar aimed to:
- Demystify career prospects in event planning and management.
- Offer expert guidance on industry trends, required skills, and practical strategies for success.
- Connect participants with professionals working in event management for real-world insights.

Conclusion: My Role in Career-Oriented Knowledge Sharing
These two seminars reflect my dedication to knowledge-sharing and professional development. Organizing these events also strengthened my leadership, communication, and event management skills, proving my ability to manage large-scale knowledge-driven initiatives effectively.
