Introduction & Overview

The role of an International Service Director (ISD) in Rotaract Clubs is crucial in building global connections, fostering international collaboration, and executing impactful cross-border projects. However, many club-level ISDs face challenges in planning, executing, and managing international service initiatives due to a lack of structured training and guidance.

Since being declared as the District International Service Director (DISD) for Rotaract District 3281, Bangladesh, I had envisioned arranging a training session to equip International Service Directors with the necessary knowledge and skills to make their roles vibrant and effective. After careful planning and coordination, I successfully organized and led the first-ever training seminar exclusively designed for International Service Directors (ISDs) from various Rotaract Clubs under RID 3281.

This event marked a significant milestone in our district’s Rotaract journey, providing ISDs with practical strategies, leadership insights, and best practices to strengthen international service initiatives at their club levels.

Objectives of the Training Session

Enhancing the knowledge & leadership capacity of International Service Directors.
Providing a structured approach to international service projects at the club level.
Encouraging cross-border collaborations and partnership-building with international Rotaract Clubs.

Creating a vibrant network of ISDs who can share best practices and experiences.

Effective Communication is KeyClear and proactive communication with international partners is essential for successful collaborations.

My Role as the Lead Organizer & Trainer

As the District International Service Director, I took the lead in:
Planning & Designing the Training Curriculum – Ensuring that ISDs received structured guidance on project planning, execution, and sustainability.
Coordinating with Speakers & District Leadership – Managing schedules, confirming speaker participation, and ensuring smooth program flow.
Facilitating the Live Training & Discussions – Leading engaging conversations, answering queries, and providing real-time solutions to participant challenges.
Encouraging Knowledge-Sharing & Networking – Ensuring that ISDs connected with fellow leaders and exchanged best practices.

Through this training, I strengthened my event planning, leadership development, and public speaking skills, further reinforcing my commitment to capacity-building within Rotaract.

Challenges & Learning Experience

📌 Ensuring Active Participation – Since it was the first-ever training of its kind, motivating ISDs to engage actively required interactive elements such as polls, Q&A sessions, and role-playing exercises.
📌 Balancing Theory with Practical Learning – The training was designed to be action-oriented, so ISDs could apply learnings immediately in their club projects.
📌 Time Constraints & Digital Fatigue – Managing a fully virtual training session effectively required careful session timing, breaks, and interactive discussions to maintain participant engagement.

Despite these challenges, the training was highly impactful, with positive feedback from ISDs who felt better equipped to lead international service initiatives within their clubs.

Impact & Future Vision

Empowered 50+ International Service Directors from different Rotaract Clubs under RID 3281.
Strengthened District-Level International Service Network by encouraging cross-club collaborations and knowledge-sharing.
Established a foundation for future ISD Training Programs, ensuring continued leadership development.
Encouraged clubs to initiate meaningful international projects, leading to greater community impact.

This training was a major step in professionalizing the role of ISDs, helping them navigate their responsibilities with clarity and confidence. Moving forward, I aim to:
🔹 Expand training programs for ISDs & project leaders within Rotaract.
🔹 Facilitate international collaborations with Rotaract Clubs in other countries.
🔹 Encourage ISDs to implement larger, high-impact projects with sustainable goals.
