International Migration Day with the Community members in Rajbari

International Migration and Expatriate Day in Rajbari.
The International Migration Day and
National Expatriate Day 2024 were celebrated in Rajbari with great enthusiasm. On
Wednesday, December 18, a vibrant rally was held in the premises of the Rajbari District Commissioner’s
Office, accompanied by a day-long fair at the Amrakanon venue. Later in the
day, a discussion session was organized in the conference room of the District
Commissioner’s Office, presided over by the . District Magistrate Mr. Zahidul Islam Mia The event concluded with the
recognition of three expatriates who contributed the highest remittances,
honoring them with awards. During the discussion session, District Commissioner
Mohammad Ashraf Uddin emphasized the importance of ensuring safe migration and
providing accurate guidance regarding employment opportunities abroad. He also
highlighted the significance of governmental and non-governmental collaboration
in facilitating the economic and social reintegration of returning migrants.
The District Commissioner further
called upon all participating organizations at the fair to adopt a coordinated
approach, enabling expatriates to contribute to the nation’s development
through their acquired skills and remittances. At 10 AM, a rally was held
with the participation of Additional along with various NGOs,
government, and private organizations. This was followed by the organization of
a fair.

The event and rally and IMD fair
witnessed enthusiastic participation from OKUP staff and peer leaders. A total
of 24 OKUP peer leaders took part in the program besides OKUP staffs. All
participants were provided with T-shirts and caps sponsored by OKUP and
Winrock. They concluded their participation with a commitment to always say no
to illegal migration and to stand by the victims of human trafficking. The T.T.C
Principle of Rajbari then shared information’s
and advised OKUP staffs and peer leaders about human trafficking and shared some
cordial moments and promised to help OKUP in this journey.
