Observance of International Migrants Day and National Expatriates' Day 2024

On December 18, 2024, I had the privilege of participating in the observance of International Migrants Day and National Expatriates' Day at the DC Office in Rajbari. This significant event focused on the ongoing efforts to enhance the welfare and opportunities for migrants.

The day commenced with a rally organized in the District Commissioner's Office, followed by a seminar that highlighted key initiatives for migrant empowerment. Representatives from the District Employment Manpower Office (DEMO) provided an overview of their current activities and future plans aimed at supporting migrant workers. The Principal of the Technical Training Center (TTC) emphasized the center’s role in offering training and skill development programs to improve the prospects of migrants in Rajbari.

The District Commissioner underscored the need to expand training opportunities to reduce the vulnerabilities faced by migrants and enhance their contributions to remittances, ultimately fostering economic growth.

The event concluded with the inauguration of a job fair, offering skilled migrants direct access to potential employers and new career opportunities.
This day reinforced the importance of collective action to support and empower the migrant community.
